      • Case study: Public transit, 2024

        EnviroKlenz conducted a case study within public transportation units of a Louisiana city, utilizing its SMART Science™ monitoring and mitigation approach to evaluate indoor air quality on public buses. The case study revealed significant reductions in PM1 & 2.5, CO2, and TVOCs. The graph depicts the comparison of untreated PM2.5 levels vs. treated levels in 5-minute intervals, demonstrating the reduction of PM2.5 as a result of implementing EnviroKlenz SMART filtration.

      • Case study: Public works facility, 2024

        EnviroKlenz conducted a case study in the water treatment facility of a Louisiana city, utilizing the SMART Science™ technology to measure reduction rates of PM1 & 2.5, CO2 and TVOCs following added EnviroKlenz filtration.

        The results revealed significant reduction of each measured pollutant in all test locations, as shown in the graph to the right of average PM2.5 reductions. Notably, EnviroKlenz achieved an average 44% reduction in PM2.5 and 33% reduction in PM1 collectively across all test locations during the duration of the case study.

      • Case study: Private university, 2024

        The deployment of EnviroKlenz SMART Air Systems across various locations throughout the private university campus in Delaware led to notable improvements in TVOC and PM2.5 levels, including an average TVOC reduction rate of 69.3% throughout the rooms tested, which marks enhancements in the indoor environmental quality to provide safer and healthier spaces for occupants. Further, the EnviroKlenz SMART Air Systems demonstrated an average decrease of over 50% in PM2.5 levels across tested areas, which can result in reduced health risks, specifically respiratory and cardiovascular health and transmission of illness among occupants

      • Case study: Private casino facility, 2023

        EnviroKlenz designed a case study to provide a comprehensive assessment of second-hand smoke (SHS), PM1.0 and PM2.5 exposure inside a private smoking Iowa casino. Results revealed the achievement of PM levels comparable to that of an average non-smoking casino, and notably at or below the EPA’s standard of 35 μg/m3 for indoor environments for majority of the test period. 

      • Case study: K-12 school, 2021-2022

        n a real-world case study, the performance of the EnviroKlenz Air System was assessed by SafeTraces in Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to verify the equipment’s efficiency in infectious aerosol removal. With consistent outperformance of traditional filtration, the results revealed rapid 99.9% aerosol reduction within 30 minutes of the hour-long testing period, an essential performance metric in airborne infection mitigation.

        Further revealed in this study, the EnviroKlenz Air System’s alignment with the stringent ASHRAE Standard 241 showcases its energy and cost-efficiency in comparison to complete reliance on HVAC systems.

      Particulate matter (PM) of various sizes is important to measure. PM2.5 describes fine inhalable particles, with 2.5 micrometer diameters and smaller, while PM1 is even finer at 1.0 micrometers in diameter.

      The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that annual average concentrations of PM2.5 exposure should not exceed 5 µg/m3. EnviroKlenz SMART Science™ utilizes this benchmark to optimize air cleaning automations and air quality alerts to keep your building or bus in line with this recommendation.

      PM2.5 and PM1 are the most common sizes for:

      Total volatile organic compounds

      Total volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are airborne chemical vapors that stem from common day-to-day sources, like:

      • Perfumes & fragrances
      • Cleaning supplies
      • New furniture, flooring, & paint

      The U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration has established Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL) for common VOCs to protect occupational health from harmful contaminant exposure in the workplace. For example, Formaldehyde, a common VOC found in furniture and building materials, has an OSHA PEL of 0.75ppm.

      EnviroKlenz uses OSHA’s recommended and enforceable limits to set its own acceptable TVOC threshold at 0.5ppm, promptly letting indoor environments know when airborne conditions have exceeded this stringent limit for human safety.

      Carbon dioxide is naturally produced by human breathing, increased from higher in-room occupancy. Maintaining healthy levels of CO2 can influence better occupant wellness.

      It is often recommended by national health and safety organizations that indoor CO2 concentrations between 400-1,000 ppm is generally acceptable, which is in line with our SMART Science™ benchmarks for optimal IAQ.

      Carbon monoxide

      Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and toxic gas that can stem from vehicles and industrial plants outdoors, or indoor appliances like gas space heaters, leaking chimneys and furnaces, and gas stoves.

      The WHO recommends that CO levels do not exceed 9 ppm during an 8-hour period of exposure, 25 ppm during a 1-hour period of exposure, and in extreme cases, 90-100 ppm in a 15-minute period. EnviroKlenz takes after the 8-hour exposure limit for optimal indoor protection from carbon monoxide risks.

      Humidity

      Humidity is another factor of environmental comfort, and can influence in-room conditions that are optimal for mold risk. We monitor humidity and let your building know if it threatens IAQ.

      ASHRAE Standard 62.1 requires that relative humidity levels be limited to 65% or less for mechanical systems with dehumidification capability to uphold its ventilation standards for acceptable IAQ.
